The recorder comes with its own included software (Olympus Dictation Management System - "ODMS") that's Windows and Mac compatible, for the purpose of automatically downloading the audio recordings from the recorder to the computer whenever it's connected or placed in its cradle.
The recorder itself, does not turn dictation into text or word documents - it only records. HOWEVER, the DS-9500 is a top of the line recorder and is "Dragon Compatible, 6 out of 6 star perfect accuracy." It is pre-integrated with Dragon.
The power of combining the wifi-anywhere capabilities DS-9500 and Dragon Professional 16 means that the process of transcription becomes totally automated. You connect up your "dictaphone" (aka DS9500), and in a minute or so everything gets transcribed into a series of typewritten, MS Word compatible, DRAFTS which can be reviewed and listened to by a human, and QA checked.
Keep in mind this only works with a single dictator's voice, not in a conference recording situation or with multiple individuals, and dragon is licensed per voice (each user must own a license).
